What we built in

Awakened Business helps trade and service business owners build leaders so the business runs without them in the middle of it. We completely redesigned and rebuilt their site in Beaver Builder, swapping a generic coaching template for a bold navy and gold brand, Mick’s real story and a clear path into The Arena Academy.

Awakened Business is a leadership training company for Australian trade and service business owners, founded by Mick Scotney in Mount Isa, Queensland. Mick started on the tools and grew his own trade business from $2M to more than $15M and 60+ people before stepping out of the middle of it. Through The Arena Academy, a 13-month program for owners and their teams, he now teaches other owners how to do the same.

The previous website didn’t sound like Mick or look like the people he works with. It was an Elementor build with an all-caps hero about “high-performance leadership training”, a light blue palette and a long run of generic icons and stat counters that could have belonged to any consultancy. The Arena, Mick’s story and the free resources were all there, but buried, and nothing on the page spoke directly to a busy owner who still takes 50 calls a day on holiday.

This was a complete overhaul: new design, new layout, new structure and a full rebuild from the ground up in WordPress and Beaver Builder. The home page now opens with the problem owners actually feel, “Your business should run without you in the middle of it”, over a full-bleed shot of Mick on stage. From there it walks through the four signs you’re the bottleneck, Mick’s own turning point, the numbers behind his journey and real results from clients like Calibre Engineering and Crockett Industries, including a video story from a member of The Arena.

The new look is bold and confident. A deep navy and midnight palette with gold highlights, punchy headings on a single global type scale, and small pill-style eyebrow labels give every section a consistent rhythm. The Arena Academy gets a banner worthy of the name, with an oversized gold wordmark and Colosseum artwork that scales down to sit neatly under the copy on a phone. A custom HTML header sits transparent over the hero on desktop, picks up the navy once you scroll, and opens into a full-screen mobile menu with a direct link to The Arena.

Every page earns its place in the journey. The Arena Academy page explains the 13-month program and the 2½-day in-person Intensive with clear fact cards and member testimonials. Who is Mick tells the full story with a pull quote and a straight path to booking a Game Plan call. For owners who aren’t ready to talk yet, the 2-minute Leadership Quiz is embedded from the Awakened CRM inside a framed, step-by-step page, and The Business Freedom Blueprint ebook has its own landing page feeding straight into their lead capture forms.

The blog got a proper upgrade too. A custom feed with topic filter pills, a three-column card grid and load more sits under a featured latest post, and every article was tidied up with real headings so the built-in table of contents works on each post.

Behind the scenes, we mapped 301 redirects from the old site’s URLs, added structured data and launched with the site on DeCODE hosting. The result is a website that finally sounds like Mick: straight-talking, built for trade owners, and focused on one thing, getting the business running without them in the middle of it.
