Iris Photo

What we built in

Iris Photo turns photographs of the human iris into artwork, prints and jewellery using custom photography technology, printed on the spot from mobile pop-up booths around the world. The site needed to explain an unusual concept fast, showcase product across artwork, prints, jewellery, digital images and vouchers, and let customers find their nearest pop-up via a store locator that works like a directory for a roving operation. Playful eye-themed branding pairs with strong product photography and a Vimeo explainer video that does the heavy lifting on introducing the concept. The locator turns the operational complexity of the business into a feature rather than a friction point.

No templates. Built from scratch.

Iris Photo turns photographs of the human iris into artwork, prints and jewellery using custom photography technology developed specifically for the purpose. The operation runs from mobile pop-up booths in shopping centres around the world, capturing eyes with stunning clarity and detail and printing the finished pieces on the spot within about ten minutes. The opening pitch on the homepage captures the whole proposition in one sentence: the human iris is more individualised than your fingerprint.

The brief was unusual. The site needed to explain a category that does not really exist anywhere else, showcase a product range that spans physical artwork, prints, jewellery, digital images and gift vouchers, and let customers find their nearest pop-up location through what is effectively a directory of roving stores. None of the standard e-commerce or brochure templates fit cleanly, so the build had to invent a structure of its own.

The homepage opens with a confident “Turn your eye into stunning artwork” headline anchored by a hero product image and an embedded Vimeo video that does the heavy lifting on explaining the concept. The Product Range section is organised into five clear categories, Artwork, Digital Images, Jewellery, Prints and Vouchers, each with its own landing page. A How It Works section uses custom illustration to walk through the four-step process from cap to print.

The most distinctive piece of functionality is the store locator, which acts as a directory for the mobile booth operation. Customers can find current pop-up locations across multiple countries, which solves a problem unique to this business: the next location of an iris booth might be in a different shopping centre, a different city, or a different hemisphere from the last one. The locator turns what could be a logistical headache into a treasure-hunt brand moment.

Visually the brand leans into a playful, eye-themed identity with strong product photography and a deep, jewel-tone palette that reflects the rich colour of the iris prints themselves. The big sign image showing the booth setup gives prospective shopping centre partners a clear sense of the install. An About page with FAQs handles the practical questions, and contact pathways for both customers and shopping centre operators are clearly surfaced.

The result is a site that takes a genuinely unusual product and makes it feel approachable. It explains the concept fast, lets customers picture the finished piece, and turns the company’s roving operation into a feature rather than a friction point.
